As individual Tribal Competition continued at several activities today, I made my way down to the archery range. I wanted to stop in and see how the oldest boys group was doing being their first time at archery for individual tribal competition. For individual tribal competition, each camper tries to place first, second, or third to gain points for their tribe’s overall team total points.

This was my first glance at our new and improved archery program, revamped by director Caleb Homer. I was highly impressed. Our archery specialist counselor, Gavin Giosa, was in deed in charge and doing a great job of teaching and facilitating this activity. From calling commands to helping individual campers with technique, Gavin was doing a great job and it was obvious he knew archery from top to bottom. So, I was really proud of our leadership down at archery today; it’s really a result of Caleb working super hard with our archery specialists and then those specialist counselors executing.

At the end of the summer last year, Caleb, Pete, and I drove to North Carolina and Georgia to visit a few other camps. One of the activities we were hoping to improve was archery, and visiting these camps gave us some good ideas and a blue print for improving our archery program. It’s so gratifying to see Caleb’s hard work paying off, and the kids are the benefactors.

Cookout
We just finished eating hot dogs on the front lawn, and Mr. Mike is about to begin storytelling. We’ll likely hear the story of the Blue Wolf (remember this one for closing day), Joe Shields, and the Wild Woman. After that we’ll hop on the trailers for a truck ride to go hunt for the Wild Woman herself. Rumor has it that we’ll be taking the Pomegranate Hill route through the backwoods of Huawni. Hope we see her!
