A full moon rose over the southeast sky as Mr. Mike told the Story of the Blue Wolf, Joe Shields, and the Wild Woman. It was a perfect night for cookout, storytelling and a trailer ride.

Caleb K. really showed off his singing skills at karaoke, and director Austin Adams cooked up some crisp and tasty hot dogs.

We ended storytelling with all the counselors getting up to sing “This Old House”. This was founder Daddy Earl’s favorite song, so the counselors have sung it over the years on cookout night just before the truck ride starts.

Caleb, Mr. Mike, and myself hop on the tractors and took the iPond/Pomegranate Hill route back through the piney woods. The moon was so incredible; we could have turned off our headlights and still seen the trail.

There was a wild woman sighting as well…she ran across Pomegranate Hill and into an adjoining field. She was pretty scary looking…good thing she’s afraid of us humans!

We ended the evening with Mr. Mike leading a sing song at the pool. Again, the moon was so bright that it lit up the entire pool and deck by itself. We sang You Are My Sunshine, When I First Came To This Land, Frogie Went a Courtin’, Farewell, Red House, Preacher and the Bear, Wagon Wheel, I Still Do and the Camp Song.

Everyone was tuckered out by night’s end and ready to sleep in a bit on Sunday morning before church.
