Fishing
Tonight we finally got to make up fishing night, which got rained out last week. Cane pole fishing at Camp Huawni is definitely a favorite of campers. Fishing at Huawni brings together two of our big core values – outdoors and meaningful relationships.

Right after supper we headed to the iPond. For many campers, it’s their very first fishing trip. The fish were biting early and often tonight…it must be the full moon. Campers and counselors enjoyed s’mores as well before heading back to main campus to punch their ticket for the Miss Huawni Pageant.

Miss Huawni
Congratulations to Caitlin D. for being crowned Miss Huawni for Session 2!! The Miss Huawni Pageant is an age-old tradition at Camp Huawni which celebrates the inner beauty of girls camp. It’s been encouraging to see how this night really does build up our girls in girls camp. We’ve made an extra effort over the last few years to really emphasize the inner beauty of each girl camper. That’s been evident by our question round and even how the girls are affirmed in front of their peers while on stage. We want girls camp to know that what’s most important is their inner beauty and being secure in who they are, not what pop culture says. Caitlin D. was voted on by the counseling staff as the girl camper who exemplified that most tonight. We are so proud of you Caitlin! Caitlin’s talent was reciting a poem in french.

Caitlin D. is crowned Miss Huawni!!

Tuesday
Tuesday is our last day for individual Tribal Competition. Campers get their last shot to rack up individual points for their team. We also will be hosting our 3rd Annual Camper/ Kids Triathlon tomorrow during 6th period. I’ll do my best to post participants and times tomorrow. Until them…goodnight!
