Happy Father’s Day and happy Opening Day for our Session 2 kiddos! We are making final preparations before we open the gate, and counselors are primed and ready to LTK (love the kids).

Parents, be sure and subscribe to this blog/news page so that you can get up to date information on what’s going on at Camp this summer.

I dressed up like Dad today to give our staff a pep talk. It was lined with laughs and quotes like “no loligagging” and “buckle your chin straps”. Rest assured – staff was listening (Dad is known for being very assertive).

Instead of giving my father a gift card or some other “normal gift”, I decided rather to affirm my father via this blog. In addition, I hope it will inspire all our fathers coming through the gates today for Opening Day. Many of the things Dad taught me are lessons and experiences that have permeated into the hearts and minds of Camp Huawni campers, many of which have now grown up.

Dad thank you for teaching me the importance of work ethic. Thank you for teaching me what it means to learn from failure and get back up and try again. Thank you for teaching me how to love your family well and put them ahead of work. Thank you for providing for our family and being a constant encourager. Thank you for teaching me that my faith is about a relationship. Thank you for teaching me what it means to be a man, to reject passivity, accept responsibility, lead courageously, and invest eternally. I love you Dad! You are an authentic man.

Well, it’s time to go! We can’t wait to see all our Session 2 families here in a bit!!!
