Kids Triathlon
Today was one of those jam packed days of full on camp. I love days like today because kids get to experience so many aspects of what makes the summer camp experience special.
Before dinner, we hosted our Kids Triathlon, a sprint tri includes a length’s swim at the Critter Pond, a two mile Camp Road bike trek, and about a mile run from the bike shed finishing through the Obstacle Course.
You’d be amazed at the heart kids showed today on the course. You really got to see these kids push through perseverance, a great thing to learn at such a young age. It’s even more special watching participants’ friends and counselors encourage them throughout the race. Campers running with their tired friends, other helping their friend push their bike up the hill…it was so, so neat. I’m so proud of every camper that finished the race. Here’s the results:

Woofleball World Series (WWS)
Tonight the Caddo battled the Tejas in the WWS Finals. On Sunday, Tejas won both WWS games, so Caddo tonight needed to win both games, as well as score the most total points to ensure a WWS first-place victory. In game one tonight, the Caddo pulled off an 11-0 vicotry. In game two, the Caddo were down 4-3 in the top of the last inning, only to score two runs to go up 5-4. The Tejas came to bat in the bottom of the 7th and tied it up. By this time, both Caddo and Tejas teams from the other game had come over to cheer for their fellow teams. It was electric! In extra innings, the Tejas finally pulled off the victory to ensure a win in WWS. Both WWS and Soccer are worth the most team points in Tribal Competition.
Tomorrow we’ll begin all day team competition….I’ll try and keep you posted as best I can through this blog and through Twitter.
Skit Night
All our cabins put in the extra effort tonight for Skit Night. You know it’s a good Skit Night when there’s not one bad act. Congratulations to Berry Patch West for winning with their skit “Miss Berry Patch West Pageant”. Pine Top came in a close second, followed by Sun Down. Cedar Flats did a great rendition of various stories of the Wild Woman by way of a puppet show via a flashlight and shadows on the stage. Also, Band Aid had a very strong skit where they bombed cabin inspection, only to redeem themselves.
You know it’s a good day when you have to call lights out at 11pm! We’re going to rest up tonight for a full day of competition. Camp is getting near the end, and we’re soaking up every moment with this wonderful group of kids!
