Now that Camp is over and we’ve all had time to catch up on sleep, I’ve been thinking a lot about our counseling staff. What an amazing group of young people….really. I’m so proud of them. Our counselors are truly the heart beat of Huawni…they make it happen summer after summer. I am forever grateful for the amount of loved they poured out this summer.

Our staff is simply amazing. They ran around giving out every ounce of energy for 16 plus hours a day, only to wake up the next morning and do it all over again. Our SERVE Team (counselors in training) worked tirelessly each day to serve Camp in a sundry of ways.

I’m overcome with joy when I think about how our counselors voted continuously this summer for the kids with their time….day after day after day. This is really the essence of what it means to LTK (love the kids) and die to self (DTS). It’s also what distinguishes a “great” staff from a “good” staff. For our counselors, it wasn’t about “self”, but it was truly about sacrificing their time, energy, effort and sleep so that their kids had the time of their life. I experienced so much joy and fun this summer, largely due to our counselors!

Who can forget Tommy on the sax this summer?

The epic squaw canoe race resulted in Madison (in water) jumping from her canoe to stop Kelsey and Erin. Maggie and Kate were overjoyed by the result!

Nurse Laura and Camp Health Officer Michelle (aka The Minions) were simply amazing!

Love letters are a big deal at Camp because you get to tell others how you genuinely feel. To both our campers and camp parents , I’d like to give you one more opportunity to write a love letter to your counselors. Tell your counselors how grateful you are by clicking submit comment below.
