Our Hike to the Carving Trees was “A-okay” today. Lots of mud, lots of watermelon, and lots of smiles! I love the above picture of Maci; her face epitomizes what hike is all about.
We start off the hike by trekking about a three-quarters of a mile down the camp road. We venture off through the piney forrest until we reach the big Pinson Creek. There’s a huge coal looking wall which serves as a perch overlooking the Pinson. It’s a prime time spot for fun in the creek. On the big beech trees near the creek’s edge you’ll see carvings from as long ago as the 1960’s. The Carving Tree spot is really a neat sanctuary in the Piney Woods.
When I arrived today, I didn’t waste anytime in getting muddy. I just went straight to the creek and the mud bath ensued. It’s a lot easier just to get muddy right away, that way you are less of a target later on. I had the opportunity as well to help a few campers carve their names.
Okay, enough talking. Hope you enjoy the pics!
