Thank you camp huawni alumni.jpg?ixlib=rails 2.1

We recently hosted our 5th alumni weekend retreat, and our alumni raised nearly $9,000 for scholarships. Thanks to the selfless efforts of our Huawni Alumni, we’ve raised over $30,000 in scholarships this year.

These last few weeks I’ve had the pleasure of talking with many of our former campers, counselors, and directors. The one word that really keeps resonating with me is generosity. Our alumni have been so generous this year, all in the spirit of giving kids the experience that we all got to experience as children.

So I did some homework and looked up the origin of the word “generosity” and found something interesting. The word is originally derived from the Latin word “generosus”, which means “of noble birth”. In the 17th century the meaning of the word morphed into meaning “nobility of spirit”. Because of our alumnus’ noble pursuit of passing on the experience of Camp, dozens of lives will be forever changed this coming summer.

Thank you Huawni alumni— you are making a BIG difference and this summer we feel blessed to get to witness the life change right here at Camp Huawni.

Still want to give? We are still taking scholarship donations. Go here. to give a tax-deductible donation and change a life this summer.
