Closing Day is here! Wow, what a fast session! Parents, we hope you have a safe trip as you’re driving back to Camp to pick up your children.

Here’s a quick update on what’s been going on.

Yesterday we started off the day with Critter Pond Mixer, a big gathering of all of camp where campers get to do their activity of choice at the Critter Pond. We bring over the PA, play fun music, and even set up a face painting station. Then in the afternoon we had summer tree, a tradition that started in the early 90’s by Mike Adams. Summer Tree gives each camper the opportunity to share what’s on their heart to all of camp. Brothers tell sisters they love them, and as the poem says, “truth is uttered here.” We gathered at a big pine tree near the archery range, and the weather was perfect. We had a strong breeze; someone might as well have turned on the air conditioner. It was very pleasant.

Last night we had Initiation and inducted a whole new host of new tribe members. We ended with a Sing Song by the pool underneath the beautiful night sky. You could see so many stars last night and it was quite breathtaking.

Closing Day

As you are coming back to Huawni, here’s a few reminders about Closing Day.

  1. Parking will be similar to closing day. Just park on the front yard where you see the cones.
  2. Please arrive no earlier than 10am. At 10am you may grab your child’s belongings and also check out (don’t need your camper) at the Dining Hall.
  3. From 10am to 11am, you may load your child’s belongings. Girl campers will have their things in front of their cabin. Boy campers will have their trunks under the tent near the Hyatt (long building by the Critter Pond).
  4. At 11am, your camper will meet you in the Dining Hall for Closing Ceremonies.

Also, I wanted to let you know that we have 8 spots left for girls K-4th grade in our next session. If your child is interested in staying, have them find Ashley Hamilton. Unfortunately, Boys Camp for Session 3 is completely full.

And finally, please grab anyone in a blue staff shirt if you need something. We are here to serve you, and we want to make closing day easy and fun for you and your family.

See you soon!

-Travis
