Our first full day of camp is in the books and we’re rolling here in Session 2. Yesterday our twelve activity groups enjoyed everything from critter to archery. We had a small rain shower in the afternoon, but it only slowed us down for one period. Here’s a few shots of all the fun we captured on film yesterday.
Last night we gathered for the famous, famous, MOST FAMOUS Capture the Flag (CTF) dual. It fascinates me how much kids love this simple game at camp. I remember looking forward to this game every year as a camper; it was popular because of how fun my counselors made it. Not much as changed; our counselors dressed up in costumes, acted crazy, and made last night special for the campers.
This morning we woke up to Ms. Ada’s good cooking; we had waffles, fresh fruit, cereal, and yogurt. After activities we ate campers’ favorite, square pizza, and salad. Everyone is at rest period right now for a little down time, and pretty soon campers will be back on campus for period 4. Tonight, we will head on over the to the Initiation Pond (a.k.a. iPond) for fishing, s’mores, storytelling, and sing song. Tonight we usually tell the story of Asia Jones…I’ll try and post the song lineup once we’re done.
This first week of Camp we really try and pack in the activities. This helps facilitate campers getting to know one another in a fun environment. In the later part of the week, we’ll begin to mix in some of our traditional events, like our Tribal Competition team announcement ceremony and Hike to the Carving Trees.
Again, I’d love to hear from you parents via this blog. Feel free to leave posts below where it says, “What are you gonna say?”.
Back to the fun!
