Last night after Talent Show we joined together for the Tribal Competition Fire Ceremony, where first-time two-week campers are inducted onto either the Caddo or Tejas tribes. This is a solemn event that many campers look forward to each summer. At Huawni, we believe that competition is a healthy thing, even for not-so-athletic campers. We find many times that campers who aren’t involved in organized sports get on board with Tribal Competition because they learn the value of teamwork and encouragement. Although we want kids to strive to win the coveted golden pine cone, which goes to the winning tribe at the end of the session, more importantly we want campers to learn that it’s about giving 100% and leaving everything you have on the field.
So without further ado, here’s a list of our newest Caddo and Tejas inductees.
