Day one of Session 4 is complete! We spent a full day diving into activities here at Camp. Campers were definitely chomping at the bit to get going with activities, and it was also fun to see a lot of our campers do the Critter for the first time. As you may know, the Critter is one of campers’ favorite here at Huawni.

Billy and crew say hello on their way to archery.

Juliette, Mary, and Jordan stopped for a pic at the obstacle course.

After supper we got in some good free time. After super time is purposeful free play time. We think unstructured play is crucial for your camper’s development. Why so? Read this blog I wrote recently about unstructured play: Unstructured Play: An Integral Part of Kids Camp

Last evening all of camp gathered on the front lawn to participate in a long-standing, first night activity tradition, Huawni Capture the Flag. What makes Huawni Capture the Flag special is really our counselors, who dressed up crazily in character. They add that extra spark of fun. As you can witness from these pictures, capture the flag was a success!

Pine Top got into character last night as well as the Blue Wolf Crew!

We wrapped up the night with a sing song by the pool. For you first year parents, sing song is the last event of the night, under the stars, where we sing traditional camp songs. The stars were absolutely stunning last night. I showed our campers where the Big Dipper was, as well as the North Star. We sang You Are My Sunshine, When I First Came to This Land, Soldier, Wagon Wheel, I Still Do, Wicked Twisted Road, Long Black Veil, and the Camp Song. It was a full day, and a good one too!

Homesick Update

Thankfully we only have a few homesick cases right. None the less, they are all being worked through well and we’re seeing kids grow right in front of us. Also, thank you to those of you who requested a free Homesick & Happy book. If you’d still like a copy, please let me know and respond below.

Today we’re back at activities, and tonight we’ll be hiking over the the Initiation Pond for some Cane Pole Fishing. We’ll keep you posted!

From you parents who’ve already heard via eReplys from your campers, what are they saying about Camp?
