The second week of Camp is quickly happening and Monday was a very enjoyable day. In the morning we had individual competition at regular activities, and in the afternoon all of camp gathered for the Huawni Kids Triathlon. The Huawni Tri was birthed several years ago when we were trying to add a camper event that allowed our really competitive campers to have an outlet to compete. It did just that, but surprisingly, it also prompted even more campers that weren’t as athletic to participate. What a neat thing it’s been to see all Huawni campers really get into this event. And even the campers who aren’t competing become big encouragers and cheer leaders along the triathlon path. The race itself consists of three legs: an 80 yard swim the length of the Critter Pond, a 2 mile bike down the camp road and back, and a 3/4 run from the bike shed (old corral area) through the OC and over the barrier. It’s a gruesome sprint, and we were so proud of all of our participants yesterday who challenged themselves and finished the race.

Here’s the results!

Miss Huawni

Last night we ended the day with Miss Huawni, which is a Girls Camp pageant. Our big goal for Miss Huawni is to bring out the inner beauty of every contestant as well as every girl camper and for girls campers to realize where their value truly comes from. Congratulations to Miss Pine Bottom Sophie C. for being crowned Miss Huawni last night!! Of course, crowning Miss Huawni was just the beginning of a special night for all of girls camp. When girl campers got back to their campers, they were greeted by their counselors with notes of affirmation, describing to each girl camper how they are uniquely made and special.

Lucy represented Cedar Ridge in last night’s pageant.

Miss Sun Down Callie C. takes a walk.

Today is another beautiful day here at Camp. This is the last day of individual competition at regular activities. Tonight we’ll be hosting round 2 of the Wiffleball World Series. Tonight’s games will be announced live over the pa system, and we’ll keep you posted on the results.

Parents, now that you’ve been away from your child for over a week, how have you grown personally?
