Pinson Creek Adventure Soccer

The first Friday at Camp is what we call the turn, which means Camp is picking up a healthy momentum. You can see this in the relationships that kids are building, and Camp seems to hit another gear. We started the weekend off by taking a hike to the Pinson Creek to a spot we call the Carving Trees. Campers and counselors spent the afternoon either in a mud fight, carving their initials on one of the big beech trees on the Pinson Bank, on a group excursion down the creek, and/or eating ice-cold watermelon. Lots of us, me included, got really muddy. That’s usually a sign that the hike was a success.
After supper, camp ascended on the soccer field for our first team tribal competition. It was a close match, but in the end Tejas edged out Caddo 4-2. The following campers scored a goal: Jake T., Tucker K.(2 goals), Grayson B., Amber M., Sadie P..
4th of July Celebration
The momentum has picked up here and tonight we’ll be hosting our 4th of July Celebration on Flagpole Hill! We’re decorating everything with red, white and blue. Hopefully we’ll get some good pics tonight to share with everyone. We’ll have a cookout, storytelling, trailer ride (yes, we’ll be looking out for the Wild Woman), and end with fireworks.
Tomorrow morning we’ll wind things down a bit and let campers sleep in. We’ll follow that up with a Little Red Church service and then Sunday Choice (hike, movie, water activities). Until next time, Happy July 4th!!!!
