Wednesday morning during Flag Raising we hit the song Chicken Train and Play Day got kicked off. When that song plays over the speakers, campers go running everywhere and counselors chase after them in hopes of throwing them into the pool. Yesterday, a lot of campers got dunked— even our oldest campers.

Girls Camp spent the morning competing for Play Day. We broke them up into 4 teams, and the girls staff dressed up and were extremely silly all morning. Girls competed in the egg toss, pie in the eye, minnow chase (that’s right, we let minnows go in the pool and then chase them!), and ice water on the counselor’s back.

Play Day is a zany day of fun games!

Ice water on the counselors’ back is a favorite Play Day event!

Boys Camp hiked down to the OC area for a game of Huawni Uprising, a giant game of capture the flag in the woods. We use open, brown pine cones for ammo. Boys Camp ended the morning with a little ice-cold watermelon snack.

Huawni Uprising at it’s finest

Last night cabins gathered in the Dining Hall for Skit Night. The winner would received the coveted spirit stick. Skit night is a great way for cabins to bond, and you could tell last night that the campers had been practicing. And the winner was…….Willow Glen! They did a reenactment of Opening Night Show and played the roles of their favorite counselors. Congratulations Willow Glen!!

Today we’re doing Connect, which allows campers to choose any activity they want. Tonight we’ll host the Talent Show and then first-year two-week campers will get inducted onto Tribal Competition Tribes (Caddo or Tejas) at the Tribal Competition Fire Ceremony. I’ll do my best to post team results asap.

Homesick Update

We only have a few campers that are still battling homesickness. Our staff has been doing an amazing job walking with these campers and helping them overcome something we’ve all been through. It’s neat to see the progress of these kids; we’re hoping to beat homesickness here in the next few days!
