It’s a beautiful sunny day at camp and the session is officially settling in. Last night we had a great time cane pole fishing. Counselors competed in a game of chubby bunny and we ate s’mores around the fire. We ended the evening gathered on the pool deck for Sing Song as we sang You Are My Sunshine, When I First Came To This Land, Wagon Wheel, Salty Dog, Froggie Went A Courtin’, Shelby County Breeze, Mandi’s Song, Summer, and the Camp Song.
Today we had another great day at activities. Campers seem to be more at home today as they seem comfortable getting around camp to and from activities. Tonight we’ll be hosting the Talent Show and campers are already preparing for their acts. I was just at the ropes course and one camper told me they were afraid of heights. Then she proceeded to tell me that she was singing tonight in the talent show. I said, “So what you’re telling me is, that you’re scared of heights but totally comfortable singing in front of a crowd of people?!?” She smiled and said, “Yes!”. I loved seeing her confidence and I cannot wait to see kids shine on stage tonight!
We have very few cases of homesickness here in day two and I am so proud of our counselors who have handled homesick cases with ease. We have had some major victories with some of our campers who are away from home for the first time.
