Day one of Session 1 is in full swing! This morning I got to sit in on archery. I enjoyed seeing old faces and even meeting some of our first-time campers. Campers enjoyed the obstacle course, zulu, archery, canoes, paintball/woodsball, critter, trolley, slide, hot shot & gaga ball, mountain bikes, arts and crafts, volleyball, and our new favorite activity high ropes! The sun finally made an appearance this morning and we enjoyed sunshine all morning.
As I was getting to know a few campers a bit better, I was intrigued to hear campers share where they were from. They were from all over Texas and the United States. I was reminded of how special camp is in that campers get thrown into a cabin with several other kids not from the same town and not like them and get to form lasting friendships with this group of kids. What a great growing opportunity! What a great thing to learn— meet people you don’t necessarily know who are different than you and form meaningful relationships! This opens the door for campers in so many other ways, and we get to see it first hand. It’s happening today!
This afternoon we will be back at activities and then this evening we will hike to the Initiation Pond for some classic cane pole fishing and s’mores. We also hope to get in our first Sing Song of the session!
For you parents whose kids are at camp for 2+ years, how have you seen them grow??
