Huawni Family Camp has officially begun! It’s been a beautiful and sun shiny day here on our first day of Camp. I really enjoy Family Camp because it’s relaxed and our families really do get quality, uninterrupted time together. I think that the simplicity our campers experience during Sessions 1 through 4 creeps into the Family Camp experience.

Today’s lunch was tasty as we continued to enjoy our new family style table setting. Ms. Ada and Deja created delicious turkey sandwiches on sourdough bread. The addition of avocado slices and a fried over easy egg had me reaching for a second helping today. This afternoon activities were open and we will soon be delighting in Ms. Ada’s famous fried chicken for dinner.

I’m excited as well for tonight as we will have fishing and watercraft at Huawni Pond. And of course we’ll enjoy a campfire and s’mores for dessert.

The one question we are asking our families (and ourselves) for this Family Camp is— what is your purpose…as a family and individually? We have the honor of having Dr. Chris White and John Marek (LPC-S) back again this weekend as they’ll facilitate a discussion on family purpose.

Okay- I really need to go so that I can eat some fried chicken.

Until next time!!
