Yesterday campers woke up and put on their tribal colors for all-day tribal comp. In the morning, we had Soccer Kick Around the Pool, Hotshot, and OC Team Run. Both Caddo and Tejas did extremely well and fought hard for their wins. Soccer Kick Around the Pool was neck-and-neck as campers dribbled the soccer ball down Flagpole Hill, around a chair, and back to the porch of the main cabin. Caddo finished first with a time of 18:53 and Tejas finished second with a time of 20:30. As Tejas finished, both Tejas and Caddo were cheering on the counselors who were the last to run the ball down flagpole hill.
Campers and counselors soon headed toward the skillet for hotshot, where they lined up and each took a turn shooting a basket. The cheering was deafening as Caddo and Tejas celebrated each basket and encouraged their teammates. In the end, Caddo prevailed with 26 points and Tejas was close behind with 18 points.
When Hotshot finished, Caddo and Tejas made their way down to the OC. Tejas ran their OC team run first and Caddo gathered to watch. With a time of 12:18 Tejas received first place and Caddo’s time of 12:44 received second. All of camp made their way back to the Dining Hall for lunch where we sat by tribe rather than cabin. It was a great opportunity for campers to spend time with campers outside of their own cabins. In the middle of lunch Juanse stood up to announce the winners for the morning activities. The Dining Hall was full of shouts of joy as both Caddo and Tejas’ wins were announced.
After rest period was over, Caddo and Tejas convened on Flagpole Hill by the sweet gum tree for the Inner Tube Relay. Tejas finished the relay first, but after penalties were calculated, it came down to mere seconds with Caddo coming in first at 20:57 and Tejas in second with a time of 20:59. Next came Huawni Derby at the Critter Pond where Caddo and Tejas were split into two teams each. Tejas finished first with a time of 17:01, next came Caddo in second with a time of 17:55, Tejas came in third with a time of 18:25, and Caddo came in fourth at 18:45.
Campers quickly dried off and put on their running shoes for Run for the Roses. Although Caddo and Tejas were evenly matched, Tejas took the lead in the last few handoffs and secured first place as the entire team ran from goal to goal on the soccer field. Everyone soon headed to dinner, which was followed by Tug O’ War. After a muddy struggle, the Caddo Littles and the Tejas Bigs came out on top and ended All Day Tribal Comp with victories for both teams.
We finished of the night with slip n’ slides and snow cones as the tribes came together for an evening of fun. Today we will have connect, where each cabin gets to choose their activities and later this afternoon we will have the archery tournament that will conclude tribal comp as a whole.
This session has flown by and we can’t believe there’s only one day left!
