The weekend is here and it’s amazing how fast this first week of Camp has seemed. Today at the Hike to the Carving Trees I was talking to Meredith H. and she made the comment, “The first week of a two-week session is so much faster than one week session of camp.” She was covered in mud and watermelon and it was obvious she had had a good time.

Camp really does pass by quickly. We like to say that the days are long, but the weeks are fast. Today’s hike was another simple activity that our kids here at Huawni love. We say that simple fun is the most fun, and that is what we got to do today. As the weekend has rolled around, we intentionally try and slow things down. This has been a part of the fabric in the Huawni Schedule that was here long before I came around. Currently campers are making their way to Cookout, where we’ll enjoy hotdogs, relish, baked beans, and relish. We tweaked the menu a bit this year as we’re eating more brat style dogs. They taste the same but are much bigger. After cookout we will have Storytelling and then hop on the hay trailers to go look for the Wild Woman. We will finish tonight off with a Sing Song by the pool. I’m hoping to record it, so stay tuned!

Soccer Update

If you follow us on Instagram, you saw where Tejas won soccer last night. It was a close battle, but Tejas Match One 3-2 and then Match Two 3-0. I overheard some campers at hike talking about how they were motivated to win Session 3 since Caddo won Session 2. Caddo’s red flag will remain at Flagpole Hill until Tejas can pull off a session victory.

This is a good ole fashioned Pinson Creek Mud Fight!

Watermelon on the head is a favorite on Hike to the Carving Trees.

John Brooks loves watermelon.

Loving Andrew’s grin!
