Opening Day Session 1 2019
Hey Huawni Families!
Just like that- another Opening Day has come & Summer 2019 is officially in full swing! Today marks the start of Huawni’s 55th summer, & we are so excited to be sharing this with our Camp families- especially our new Huawni families! Despite the sudden downpour just as we opened the gates, it was a successful kick off to a great summer. Rain has never stopped the fun at Camp Huawni, and today was no exception!
After all of our families said their goodbyes for the week, campers had the chance to hang out with their cabins. It was a great time to see old, familiar faces, as well as meet new ones! Before supper, Adam & Danielle hosted our Camper Orientation before the moment we were all waiting for- Ms. Ada’s famous, famous, MOST FAMOUS, FRIED CHICKEN!! Getting to eat our favorite old meal in our newly renovated Dining Hall made it that much better!
After supper, campers had more time to hang out with their cabin mates & counselors in the beautiful sunshine! We finished the day’s festivities with our Opening Night Show hosted by Avian & Mason. ONS is great because it breaks the ice for our new campers & gives everyone the chance to get to know their counselors.
Opening Night Show always brings out all the laughs!
Homesickness
For many families, it was your first time to drop off your child at overnight camp. This is understandably a very nerve racking & emotional event. But as hard as it is, we believe that homesickness is a great opportunity for growth. Staying in touch with your camper and camp pics
