We are estatic to announce that alumae Jessie Trespeses has joined the full-time Huawni team as our Director of Marketing. Jessie is a gifted storyteller, and we can’t wait for everyone to benefit from this as we near Summer 2020! Be sure to comment below to welcome her home!
Tell us about what you’ve been doing the last few years since working as videographer at Huawni?
JT: A lot has happened in the past five years! After my last summer at Huawni, I finished out my education at Baylor University where I earned my B.A. in Film & Digital Media. I then returned to my Northeast roots and worked for a creative advertising/marketing agency in New York City. There, I got to give a helping hand in the production of trailers, spots, and digital content for film and TV/streaming series. It was an incredible experience to be in close collaboration with clients like Disney, Netflix, and Sony, just to name a few. After spending time in the concrete jungle, I’m thrilled to be back in the Piney Woods…and to be a part of the Huawni team once again!
What are some of your favorite memories at Huawni? What stands out (maybe a particular moment)?
JT: Many favorite memories come to mind: Fishing on a Tuesday night, hiking to the Carving Trees, winning Tribal Comp, enjoying that Shelby County breeze on a hot, summer day - the list goes on! There was nothing better than simple fun in the great outdoors. I especially enjoyed being on Camp’s staff and working alongside such kind, servant-hearted folk that strived to love and encourage our campers. It felt so special to me, especially as a videographer, to record all of those treasured moments!
What is your new role at Huawni going to look like? What are you most excited about?
JT: As the Director of Marketing, I’ll be at the forefront of telling the story of Camp so that others may share the Huawni experience. I’ll serve as a resource for anyone that wants to learn more about Camp. During the summer, I’ll also manage our media team to produce audiovisual content that will showcase all the exciting fun that goes on in the Piney Woods. I’m excited to be in a position where I can continue to grow as a creative and a leader, and I’m even more excited that I get to do that with Huawni.
What would you like to communicate to campers and kids that will be coming this summer? How do you hope to serve them? What are some things they should notice that you’ll have direct oversight of?
JT: Get ready, Campers, ‘cause this summer is going to be AMAZING! Our staff is doing a phenomenal job in making sure that Huawni provides the best summer camp experience possible. Even though I won’t be a counselor in the cabins, it is still my desire to uplift Campers and to help them discover their unique gifts. During Camp, I’ll be seen running around with the photographers, videographers, and marketing intern. We’ll document all activities and capture moments that are sure to become cherished memories. Don’t forget to smile at the camera!
