One of the things that we believe strongly in and say frequently is “LTK”, which means Love The Kids. It is at the heart of all that we do. Our purpose is for everybody who comes through the Huawni gates to leave knowing their true significance and purpose, and LTK is how we accomplish that.
We define love as “accepting where one is currently and believing in who one is truly. So how do we accomplish this? Through specific encouragement, asking specific questions, humility, and giving them the space to be themselves. But, be it at summer camp or cooped up in quarantine with the whole family, it isn’t always easy to love! At first it’s easy to love and show grace to one another, but once we get more tired and spend more time around each other, it for sure gets harder. But it is when people don’t deserve that grace and love in that moment that our love should shine brighter!
Our hope for our Huawni Family is that this Easter weekend, that we’ll all take some time and reflect on times that we have been loved while we didn’t deserve it, and then seek to love our families and those around us. Look for ways to specifically encourage our spouses or our children, even in the small things. And when someone is doing something that gets on our nerves or does something wrong, that we don’t shame them or treat them as they or we deserve. Rather, we humbly remind them of what is true and remind them that they are loved and have a purpose. We can do this because we have been loved and shown more grace than we can ever imagine.
