My First-Year Camper Experience

Coming from a first year camper, I would say that this place is unforgettable. Like the camp song says, a part of my heart will always be at Camp Huawni. One of the reasons for that is because it is a unique place that allows campers space to grow and learn new things while having so much fun. It gives you the chance to be outdoors, spend quality time with friends, and get poured into from the awesome staff.

Thoughout this week I tried a lot of new things and met so many new friends. I will cherish the memories and every moment I had here this week. The people are what make Camp Huawni feel like a second home. The activites give you the opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and push yourself, and it’s where you get to conquer fears or just spend uninterrupted time with others.

One piece of advice I would give to any other first-year campers would be to try everything. All of the activities around here are fun and you will get to learn more about yourself in the process. I also would say that even if your friends might not want to do an activty, you should do it anyways because you don’t want to look back on your time here and wish you would have tried something new for the first time.

Overall I loved my week at Camp Huawni and will miss everyone and everything. Thank you to the staff and campers for making my first year memorable.
