This week’s Huawni Storyteller is former summer staffer Kayla Cradit! Kayla was a photographer and counselor for Camp Huawni during the summers between 2012 and 2014.
Kayla mentions how grateful she is for her time at Camp. “I love the fact that I met some of my best friends that I’m friends with to this day at Camp as well as just being to unplug and get to hang out with amazing people,” she says.
Simple fun combined with the rich traditions of Camp formed a unique environment and experience for Kayla. She enjoyed anything from the Critter Pond Mixer to going to trail rides to hiking to Chubby Bunny. One of her most favorite (and hilarious) memories happened during Tuesday night fishing.
“We had a girl counselors canoe race…and little did we know that in the midst of all of us being ready for some competition…the guy counselors would swim out and tip our canoes. So we had to swim our canoes back. And that was just really funny.”
Kayla looks back fondly on those years. “I’m just so grateful for Huawni and the memories that I have. It’s such a great place.”
