We had a thunderous start to our day, but we didn’t let the weather rain on our parade! As soon as the skies cleared and sun came back, everyone went out to activities and got to enjoy more fun in the Piney Woods.
After dinner, we trekked to Huawni Pond for one of our campers’ most favorite events…Cane Pole Fishing!
We believe that simple fun is the most fun. And sometimes that simple fun comes in the form of a bamboo cane pole with a fishing line and hook! What could be better than fishing on a Tuesday night feeling that Shelby County breeze? While some campers fished, others made s’mores around a fire or sat together to play games - all with the backdrop of the beautiful sunset.
A night of fishing at H-Pond wouldn’t be complete without Sing Song. Music plays a huge part at Camp Huawni, and Sing Song is one of those opportunities where all of camp can be together and participate as a whole. This summer, Sing Song is led by summer staffers Ben Bridges, Macy Borens, TJ DeLoach, and Ethan Hunt. After weeks of hard practice, the group’s debut performance went without a hitch!
There are more Sing Songs to come, and we hope to upload some performances for y’all to listen to soon!
