On the sunniest of Sundays, we opened our gates for the arrival of our fifth session campers! We can’t believe we’re almost done with the Summer 2021 season, but we still got a lot of fun and energy up our sleeves!
What makes this session extra special this year is that we have many new campers who get to share the Huawni Magic experience for the very first time. It’ll be their first time to breathe in fresh air of the Piney Woods, fish at Huawni Pond, hike to the Carving Trees, and sing along during Sing Song. Even more, we look forward for the friendships and the fun memories that they will make.
We know Opening Day can be both an exciting and nerve-racking day as campers say goodbye to their families and meet their new cabin mates. That’s why we fill this day with lots of fun, laughter, and games! We immediately want our campers to know that they are welcomed and encouraged to be themselves.
After dinner (featuring Ms. Ada’s Famous-Famous Fried Chicken, of course), we all sat around Flagpole Hill for Opening Night Show. Counselors showed off their silly sides as they competed against each other in a series of relay games, and campers cheered them on! Then we returned to the Front Lawn to play an all-camp game of Capture the Flag. Now, this isn’t your average game of Capture the Flag. We like to pair our version with lots of wild costumes and lots of dancing!! We ended the night with laughter and joy filling the air as music played all throughout camp.
We’ve got a full ahead today! Campers will be participating in our different activity classes, and this evening we will have Talent Show!
