With the Summer coming to a close and the school year starting up, we can’t help but pause to reflect on the remarkable summer that we all shared at Camp Huawni! One of the things that we love about Huawni is that it is a second home for so many and provides consistency in an inconsistent world, and this summer we were able to do that by having 601 campers and 59 staff return to an environment with a sense of normalcy and belonging. Of those campers and staff, 186 were first time initiates who got to experience the Huawni Magic for the first time!

Opening Day

This summer would not have been possible without the trust and support that we received from our camper families as we tried to navigate how best to operate during these times. With your help, we were able to have a healthy and safe summer with NO Covid-19 outbreaks! We feel so fortunate to have continued another summer of deep traditions in the Piney Woods. And through this support, not only were our campers were able to enjoy the Shelby County Breeze, Ms. Ada’s Fried Famous Fried Chicken, consume 75 watermelons, and get tagged in 98,747 pictures on Bunk1, but more importantly they got to discover a little bit more of their True Significance and Purpose with their Camp Huawni family, which is what we’re all about. And we’ll remember Summer 2021 from now on.

We’re super excited for next year, and our full-time team is already working diligently on how to make Summer 2022 even better! Until then, take a walk down memory lane and get a glimpse of all the fun from this past summer!
