Freshly cut cane poles lined the banks of Huawni Pond as we enjoyed our very first night of Fishing at summer camp. Fishing shirts, rubber boots, and s’mores, worms, and Sing Song were on last night’s fishing menu.
One of the neat parts about last night was some of the footage we got from our new video drone. This thing really is incredible…we can’t wait to show you some of the footage during the session highlight video. Campers enjoyed fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and peddle boating on what turned out to be a really pleasant evening. The rain missed us and we enjoyed the cooler evening on Huawni Pond.
Another special part about last night were the conversations had with and amongst campers. It really is enjoyable just to sit, fish, and not have the distractions of cell phones and TVs. Kids will say the funniest and most insightful things when it’s just you, them, and a fishing pole. I really enjoyed checking in with some of our campers last night!
Last night we kicked off the first Sing Song of the summer. Sing Song is a long-standing Huawni Tradition where we get together with all of Camp to Sing Songs, many of which we’ve sang since the 60’s. The best way to describe Sing Song is to listen to it! Listen to last night’s Sing Song here.
This morning we got some much needed rain at Camp and our Campers got some extra cabin time. This afternoon Campers have gotten back to their regularly scheduled activities as they prepare tonight for the famous, famous, MOST FAMOUS Huawni Talent Show! Talent Show is a great opportunity for campers to get out of their comfort zone and take courage (and the stage) to show off their one-of-a-kind giftings!
