Camp Huawni sits on 140 beautiful acres in East Texas, where towering pines provide shade, open fields invite play, and the rhythm of outdoor life creates the perfect setting for summer memories. Our grounds include cabins nestled among the trees, waterfront areas for swimming and boating, a dining hall where we gather as a community, and activity spaces from archery ranges to ropes courses. But beautiful grounds are only the beginning. What makes Camp Huawni a true second home for your child is the safety, care, and intentionality we bring to every corner of this property and every moment of the camp day. We believe we are made to play outdoors—and outdoor play at its best happens when children feel secure, supervised, and supported. That’s why we’ve built comprehensive safety systems into everything we do: small ratios that ensure every child is Known, emergency protocols practiced before campers arrive, and staff trained to respond to anything that comes our way. Our commitment to safety isn’t about fear—it’s about freedom. When you trust us completely, your child can fully embrace the simple fun of camp life and build meaningful relationships without worry. Below, you’ll find detailed information about how we keep your child safe—from staff training to weather monitoring, medical care to emergency preparedness. I believe informed parents are confident parents, and I want you to know exactly how we protect what matters most. Your child’s safety is the foundation of everything we do at Camp Huawni.

Camp Huawni
At Camp Huawni, we’re building our community around a simple but powerful promise: every camper will “know and be known.” This phrase captures the heart of our camp experience—believing every child deserves to be seen, heard, and valued as an individual while forming genuine relationships with others. That’s why we intentionally keep our groups small. Our 3:1 overall ratio and 7:1 cabin ratio aren’t just numbers—they’re our commitment to making “know and be known” a reality for your child.
Know Others: Small cabin groups (maximum 14 campers with 2 counselors) create space for real friendships and deep connections.
Be Known by Staff: Counselors aren’t managing crowds—they’re investing in individuals. They know your camper’s name and story.
Know You Belong: In a camp where everyone is known, no one gets lost in the shuffle. Every camper finds their place.
Be Known for Who You Are: Small ratios mean your child can be authentically themselves—celebrated for their unique personality and gifts.
