Legacy of youth development juanse 2 3.jpg?ixlib=rails 2.1

One of the most remarkable things about Camp is you really do get to be around some great human beings. Today we would like to say a huge thank you to two amazing people, Juanse Ramirez and Vera Orr, and also welcome two more amazing individuals who are joining our team — Alex Perez and Billy Martin. Our vision is to be a legacy of youth development. I can assuredly say that both Juanse and Vera have made our vision a reality here at Camp Huawni.

We are so grateful for you Juanse and how you have left a legacy at Huawni. So many of the things that make camp work better, and will continue to make camp better in the future, are in place because of you! The way you modeled humility and drive were truly remarkable. It was really cool to see how God used you over your 5 plus years here to impact campers and staff alike.

Camp Huawni,
The last few days have been bittersweet as I reminisce on all the priceless memories I made in my time here at camp. I feel extremely blessed to have had such a beautiful opportunity. In my time at camp, I experienced personal growth beyond what you could imagine. I experienced a love and passion from others that always made me feel at home. I was challenged and pushed past limits I did not know existed. I made lifelong friendships that I will cherish forever and even met some of the most unbelievable people on this planet. Oh, and I ate a worm at fishing… yumm! Camp will always be a beautiful reminder of the things that matter most in life — Loving and caring for others, a healthy and strong community, and a place where you can be who God created you to be. Thank you for an amazing 5 years Camp Huawni, you will always have a place in my heart. See you later! – Juanse

We are so thankful for you Vera and your ability to pay attention to detail and consistely love and serve our Huawni Families. You have faithfully and selflessly served for seven years. Thank you— it’s been so neat to see how God has used you to love on our people!

I would like to send my love and best wishes to all the Huawni families!! It had been a joy and a blessing to get to know and love you all!! Please continue all the wonderful
Huawni Traditions that have lasted for over 50 years!! Wishing you and your families God’s blessings and love!! – Vera Orr

I’m just really excited to give back to the place that’s given so much to me throughout my childhood and adulthood. Huawni celebrates people so well and I can’t wait to get back to what I’ve known for so many summers. It’ll be fun getting to see and experience camp from a new lens and perspective. I’m looking forward to seeing familiar and new faces Summer 2018! – Alex Perez

Billy is a natural born coach and leader, especially on Tribal Comp day!

We are also excited to announce that Billy Martin is joining our directing team as he will be one of our In-Session Leads Directors this summer as well. Camp Huawni has had a huge impact on my life over the past few years and I am looking forward to helping your child make life long memories that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. – Billy Martin
