Happy Thanksgiving Camp Huawni! This week I’ve been thinking a lot about how lacking I am personally in showing gratitude. We have so much to be thankful for, and I’m realizing more and more how important it is to stop and show gratitude to those around me. I also notice how when I actually stop to show gratitude, it creates even more gratitude for more things in my heart.

So, as we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, here are just a handful of things I (and we) are thankful for at Camp Huawni.

  1. Our Huawni Campers and how each one of you is unique and one-of-a-kind. You bring us joy!
  2. Our Huawni Parents & Alumni , who sacrifice and invest each year to make sure our campers get to experience the extreme fun and growth that happens at summer camp
  3. Our Huawni Counselors. They practice true love each summer by sacrificing their needs for the benefit of our campers. They are also so special, fun, entertaining, and unique in their own way that bring us all joy and laughter. Likewise- many come back summer after summer to invest in their same group of campers!
  4. Our location. I am so grateful for my grandparents Earl and Retha Adams. Not only did they purchase the initial property where Huawni now sits, but they also acted on a vision to impact youth through summer camping.
  5. Our full-time staff. Rachel, Kelsey, Alex, Tim, Billy, and Vanessa work so much behind the scenes to make Huawni happen. Even these last few weeks they’ve been working round the clock to get some surprises out to campers, update bunks on campus, plan camp parties and more surprises for our campers at those parties, serve and talk to new Huawni families, and love on our summer staff. I could go on…but I am so grateful for them!
  6. My job and the opportunity to be at Huawni. I am wired as a relentless and optimistic connector who loves creating environments that foster the growth of people. It’s a true privilege to get to work at a place where I get to do what I love every day. I am thankful to God for all the stuff mentioned above and that I get to go to work everyday and it not seem like work at all.

We love you Camp Huawni! Enjoy this Thanksgiving week, and maybe even take a few moments to write out what you are thankful for. In fact…you can even write out below what that is and share it if you like!
