Sundays at Camp are a chance to reflect on the past week of activities and memories, rest up before another week full of Camp fun, and enjoy the peace and quiet Huawni has on these slow Sundays.
After a nice morning of sleeping in, everyone met at the Dining Hall for a great meal of scrambled eggs, sausage, and blueberry muffin cake. Just as we were cleaning up and getting ready to load up on the trailers, a rain storm hit, changing up our church plans just a smidge. Instead of making the trip down to the Little Red Church, we set up in the Dining Hall! Although different than Camp’s traditional Sunday, spending time reflecting with all of Camp in a new place made for the best start to this Sunday… with a twist!
After a lunch of sloppy joes, chips, & ice cream sandwiches, (a Sunday classic!) all of Camp went to the cabins for Rest Period. Campers took the chance to write some letters to friends and family, play cards with their cabin mates, or get some extra sleep.
On Sundays, we normally have Choice in the afternoon, allowing campers the opportunity to choose what activity they want go to. With small storms happening all around Camp today, we spent time in the Dining Hall together watching a movie instead. While it isn’t quite the same as usual Sundays, all of Camp had a chance to pause and take a breath before playing even harder this coming week!
We finished the night out with a Huawni first- an epic Just Dance Night in the Dining Hall! All of Camp line danced to favorites like the Hustle and the Cha Cha Slide, cheered on their cabins in lip sync battles and Just Dance competitions, and just spent time hanging out together. All in all, this Huawni first was an absolute hit! We finished off the day by watching none other than… the Baseball College World Series (Hail State)!
All of Camp was grateful for a chance to breathe and rest on this peaceful Sunday, but we’re all looking forward to another week of non-stop Camp fun!
