Critter Pond Mixer and Closing Day
It’s no surprise that it can get quite hot in Texas, especially in the summer! But through the 56 summers Camp Huawni has had, we certainly know how to keep things cool and a lot of fun!
On Friday afternoon, we jammed out at the Critter Pond Mixer. All cabins got to enjoy swimming, crittering, ziplining, and sliding into the refreshing waters of the Critter Pond. New Critter Kings and Queens were crowned as campers launched each other into the air by jumping on the Critter! After a full week of playing outside, having fun, and making new friends, this was the perfect finale.
We closed the day with Initiation Ceremony, where we officially inducted our first-year campers to the Camp Huawni Tribe.

During each session, campers elect a Chief and Princess, who are older campers that best embody the Huawni spirit while demonstrating leadership qualities, including compassion and discipline. This session’s Chief and Princess are JT K. and Stella C.! Huge congrats to both!
We said goodbye to our campers this morning, and we are so thankful for this past week with all of them! We are so proud of the growth and experiences we got to see with our campers, and we hope to see everyone back again next year!
Our first session may have come to a close, but we’ve only just begun! Summer 2021 continues with the start of our first two-week camp TOMORROW!
