The weekend has arrived here at Huawni and with it comes a change in schedule. We call Friday here at Huawni the Turn, which signifies a mix up in the schedule along with unscheduled down time. This morning campers got their first crack at individual competition. Campers competed at swim (long and short), the Obstacle Course (aka the OC, for fastest time), Hot Shot (most points in one minute), and Archery. Now that all campers are on either Tejas or Caddo, first, second, and third place finishes at these individual activities (they compete with others in their cabin) will go toward their total Tribal Competition team points.
Tonight, Caddo and Tejas will square off in the Soccer Finals for their first team competition. Like the Wiffleball World Series, Soccer is a team competition worth the most team points. It’s really neat to see how Huawni Soccer really amps up the energy for this session. Week one at Huawni is sprinkled with a mix of daily activities and old school/fun/team night activities (i.e. Fishing, Capture the Flag, Skit Night, and Talent Show). As we head into the weekend, the mix of team competition, free time in nature (Hike to the Carving Trees), and family time (Cookout tomorrow night) set a different, more unique pace…one that campers soak up.
This week we checked in with your kiddos. I always love hearing from our Huawni Campers. It’s always interesting to hear their perspective on what they are experiencing, and how that changes throughout a session. Enjoy the words of your Huawni Campers…today we hear from Band Aid!
