Whether the Texas weather agrees or not, Summer time is officially coming to an end, which means that school is back in session and the countdown for next summer is officially on!
A Fun Start to Fifth Session!

This past Sunday, we began our last session of the summer! We are excited to have our Session 5 campers for our last week. After campers unpacked, they enjoyed Ms. Ada’s famous fried chicken in the Dining Hall! Following dinner, campers watched counselors participate in Opening Night Show!
Session 4 Closing Day

After a fantastic two weeks, Session 4 has come to an end. We closed out the session by finishing up Tribal Competition with All Day Comp, Run for the Roses, and the Archery Tournament. Ultimately, the Blue Tejas came away with the victory!
Christmas in July at Camp Huawni

Yesterday, we celebrated Christmas in July at camp! Campers’ eyes lit up as they walked in the Dining Hall for breakfast and were greeted with a winter wonderland.

Last night, Camp Huawni hosted the annual Wiffleball World Series! Both littles and bigs brought the heat and played hard for their team. We saw a lot of runs, hits, and awesome plays!

Tonight, we kicked off Tribal Competition with Huawni Soccer! Campers showed their spirit as the Blue Tejas took on the Red Caddo.

One of our most important and exciting traditions at Camp Huawni is our Tribal Competition, a week-long event where campers compete for the coveted Golden Pine Cone! Tonight, campers that are new to our two-week session were initiated into either the Blue Tejas or Red Caddo tribes.

Today, campers were able to celebrate the 4th of July at Camp Huawni! Campers woke up this morning to an American decorated Dining Hall, and continued the day with activities.

One of the best things about Camp Huawni is our love for tradition, and one of our favorites is Fishing on a Tuesday Night! Fishing is a time for camp to come together after a busy day and enjoy the Shelby County breeze.

This evening Camp Huawni hosted our annual Wiffle Ball World Series! Energy was high as the Blue Tejas took on the Red Caddo. Tonight, we saw a lot of runs, hits, and awesome plays! Both Caddo and Tejas showed out for their team.

We are so happy to have our Session Two campers back! Opening Day was filled with lots of hugs and camp reunions. One of the best things about overnight camp is the lasting friendships that are made.
Critter Pond Mixer and Closing Day

After a hot week at camp in East Texas, campers got to cool off at Critter Pond Mixer! All 10 cabins enjoyed crittering, trollying, sliding, and swimming together Friday afternoon. It was the perfect way to end the session!
Hike to the Carving Trees, Cookout, and Wild Woman Hunt

At Camp Huawni, we believe simple fun is the most fun! Yesterday afternoon, we explored the outdoors and went on our famous hike to the Carving Trees. Campers hiked up camp road to the Penson Creek to cool off and play in the mud. Both campers and counselors covered each other head to toe in mud. After venturing up the creek on an excursion, campers enjoyed some watermelon on the bank.

This past Sunday marked the first day of camp as families made their way down camp road and through the gate for Session One! Our staff could not be more excited that campers are finally here to play and enjoy all the Piney Woods have to offer. Seeing both new and old friends had to be the highlight of the day!
